Billing & Fees

At Rivermind Counseling, we’re committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based care in a way that is transparent, respectful, and supportive of your unique needs.

Private Pay Practice

We are a self-pay, out-of-network practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly. Many of our clients choose to use their out-of-network benefits to receive partial reimbursement from their insurance providers. We’re happy to provide a monthly superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit for potential reimbursement.

If you’re unsure whether your insurance plan includes out-of-network coverage, we’re here to help you navigate that process. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions.

Understanding Out-of-Network Therapy Benefits

If you are looking to access your out-of-network benefits, here are some helpful questions to ask your insurance provider:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health coverage?
  • Is there a deductible I need to meet before coverage begins?
  • What percentage of therapy fees will be reimbursed?
  • Are virtual (telehealth) sessions covered?
  • Is there a maximum number of sessions per year?
  • Do I need a referral or prior authorization?

We understand that dealing with insurance can feel confusing, and we’re more than happy to walk you through it.

Therapy Rates

To ensure accurate and individualized care, we invite you to contact us directly to learn more about our current rates.

We offer:

  • Individual therapy for adolescents and adults
  • Parent coaching and behavioral support
  • Specialized care, including DBT, ERP, and trauma-informed therapy

We reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots for those who may benefit from reduced-fee services. If finances are a concern, please reach out to inquire about availability.

Good Faith Estimate (GFE)

In compliance with the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate that outlines the expected cost of therapy services. We provide this estimate when you schedule your first appointment, and it’s available upon request at any time.

The Good Faith Estimate is not a bill—it’s intended to give you clear, upfront information about what your care may cost. Learn more at http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Payment Information

Payment is due at the time of service. We accept all major credit cards and HSA/FSA cards. Receipts are provided for all sessions.

Cancellation Policy

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know with at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations and missed appointments will be billed at the full session rate.
