Amanda Lewis, LMSW

Amanda (she/her) earned her Master’s in Social Work from Simmons University. She has worked in a variety of mental health settings including outpatient community mental health agencies, substance use treatment and domestic violence agencies, and private practice. She specializes in DBT and DBT-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE), with a particular focus on supporting individuals with PTSD and trauma-related concerns. She also has completed training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Amanda values DBT and ACT for their effectiveness in helping clients build practical skills, cultivate mindfulness, and move toward lives aligned with their values. Amanda is licensed to provide therapy in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. She practices under the clinical supervision of Erin Reddinger, LCSW-C.

Amanda practices from a feminist and social justice–informed framework, honoring each client’s lived experience and attending to the broader systems that shape mental health and well-being. She has experience and interest in working with neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ clients. She has worked with adolescents and adults with trauma histories, mood disorders, anxiety and depression, self-harm, and suicidal ideation.

Before entering the social work field, Amanda worked in humanitarian aid and international development, an experience that continues to inform her culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and values-driven approach to care. Outside of her work, Amanda enjoys spending time outdoors, tending to her community garden plot, reading, and connecting with friends and family.
